Released in 2014, WWE 2K15 was the first title in the series to straddle two console generations. The PS4 version utilized a completely new gameplay engine focused on simulation and realism. Conversely, the PS3 version utilized the legacy engine used in previous titles (roughly based on the WWE '13 / 2K14 architecture). While the PS4 version was technically superior in graphics, the PS3 version retained features and gameplay loops that were stripped from the next-gen iteration, leading a segment of the player base to prefer the "last-gen" experience.
