RoboDK offers several tiers (Educational, Standard, Professional, and Floating). The license key you buy is perpetual for that version, but updates beyond 1 year require a maintenance renewal. That’s fairly standard, but some users miss this in the fine print.
If you opt for the software license key (no USB dongle) to save a few dollars, it can be finicky. If you upgrade your PC, swap a hard drive, or reformat your OS, the license fingerprint may fail, requiring you to contact support to reset the key. This process isn't instant, which can kill productivity during a time-sensitive project.
If you intend to use RoboDK primarily as an engine via the API (Python/C#) running on a server or headless machine, the standard license key setup isn't always straightforward. It often requires the GUI to be active to validate the license, which complicates automation pipelines.
